LAHORE (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the former government had put the country's interest at stake for the sake of political interests.
He was talking to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) members and renowned businessmen on Saturday.
The prime minister said that all people had played a role to save the country from bankruptcy. "The present government spent 15 months in rectifying the relations with America," he added.
He said that China had given US$5 billion to Pakistan in 3-4 months and the IMF agreement was impossible without this help. "Though we have avoided the default, but are still facing difficult conditions," he maintained.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said that it was responsibility of the government to take steps for the agriculture and industry. "It is government's top priority to resolve the problems of traders.
He said that unluckily the government had to increase the power rate on the demand of the IMF.
