RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar has on Sunday requested for an early retirement from the Pakistan Army. His request for early retirement has not been approved yet. In his resignation letter to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar said that he wishes everyone to respect his decision without giving in to any form of speculation. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for all seniors, comrades, and staff and his family. “I will be available whenever Pakistan army needs,” he added. Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar was the former ISI Director General (DG) and President of the National Defense University. He had also served as Rangers Director General.
