LAHORE (92 News) – An accountability court remanded former PU Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran and five registrars in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for 10 days. Former PU VC Mujahid Kamran and registrars Dr Aurangzeb Alamgir, Dr Liaquat Ali, Dr Kamran Abid, Dr Ras Masood and Ameen Athar face the charges of making 550 illegal appointments, misuse of powers and giving scholarships to favourite students. Mujahid Kamran’s counsel contended that his client had not made any illegal appointment. “The employees posted on contract were given salaries from AG Office,” he stated. On his arrival, lawyers demanded to unlock the handcuffs of Dr Mujahid Kamran. Earlier, lawyers and students chanted slogans in his favour and against him. After the arrest of former PU VC Mujahid Kamran, the government has decided to limit the powers of the VCs of universities across the country.
