QUETTA (92 News) - Gulzar Imam Shambay, a former separatist leader, has completed one year of joining the national mainstream, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan's efforts to counter terrorism and extremism.

Shambay, once a key figure in the Baloch separatist movement, was arrested in 2023 in a historic intelligence operation by Pakistani agencies. He was involved in terrorist activities for over 15 years and was the mastermind behind several attacks in Balochistan.

During his time in the separatist movement, Shambay formed a new organization, Baloch National Army (BNA), and was also involved with other terrorist groups, including the BRAS. He was known for his role in recruiting young Baloch men into the separatist movement and was considered a key figure in the propaganda campaign against the Pakistani state.

After his arrest, Shambay expressed regret over his actions and acknowledged that he had made a mistake by choosing the wrong path. He also announced his decision to join the national mainstream and work for the betterment of Pakistan. This move was seen as a significant success for Pakistani intelligence agencies and a major blow to the separatist movement.

Since then, other separatist leaders have also followed in Shambay's footsteps, including Serafaraz Bangulzai, the head of BNA, who surrendered along with 70 of his men. This has led to the complete dismantling of the BNA organization.

The people of Balochistan are the true heirs of the province and will not let terrorists hijack the agenda of progress and development. The state, law enforcement agencies, and intelligence agencies are working together to counter terrorism and extremism, and the people of Balochistan are supporting them in this effort. Pakistan is making efforts to develop Balochistan through the CPEC project, while terrorist organizations are trying to sabotage these efforts. The state will not let these elements succeed and will continue to work for the betterment of the people of Balochistan.
