Former SSP gunned down in Karachi; PM takes notice

KARACHI (92 News) – A senior police officer, former Hyderabad SSP Ijaz Haider was gunned down at pointblank while his wife injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at their car in the Pehlawan Goth area Friday morning. According to reports, the incident took place as the gunmen targeted a vehicle bearing government number-plate belonging to SP Aijaz Haider, fomer Hyderabad Jail Superintendent. As a result, the police officer died on the spot taking three bullets to his chest while his wife was rushed to the nearby hospital where she was said to be in critical condition. Meanwhile, PM Nawaz Sharif has taken strict notice of the killing and telephoned Sindh CM Qaem Ali Shah seeking the arrest of the culprits.
