Four die as rain inundates low-lying areas in Lahore, death toll rises to 11

LAHORE (92 News) - Four people were killed when the roof of their house collapsed during the rain in Chungi Amar Sidhu on Thursday, increasing the death toll to 11.

Several low-lying areas, including Lorry Adda, Badami Bagh and Sabzi Mandi, were inundated due to the rain that lashed the city for the third day.

Four people were injured when the roof of a hospital collapsed in Mozang Chungi area. In Kamoke, a woman and her two daughters were killed in the roof cave-in incident.

Meanwhile, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed grief over the deaths in the rain-related incidents. During his visit different areas, he said that the rain situation was under control. The entire machinery is working for pumping out the rainwater.

On the other hand, several cities including Faisalabad, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Kamoke and Chunian, received incessant rain. As a result, several feet water accumulated in house, forcing the people to stay at home.

The Met Office has issued a high alert in the wake of the possible flood. There is fear of a high flood in the Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum rivers by July 10 due to release of water by India.
