Four policemen martyred, 253 injured by firing of banned TLP workers: IGP Punjab

LAHORE (92 News) – As many as four policemen have been martyred and 253 injured by the firing of the banned Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan workers.

This was confirmed by Punjab IGP Rao Sardar during a press conference on Wednesday.

He said that the police were attacked in the name of the protest and peace was disrupted after closing the passages. "The state cannot allow anyone to disrupt the environment of peace. It is our responsibility to maintain law and order in the province," he maintained.

The IGP Punjab said that it was responsibility of the government to protect the life and property of each citizen.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has paid homage to the police personnel who were embraced martyrdom due to the torture and firing of protesters of the banned outfit.

He extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the bereaved families of the martyrs and said that government equally shares their grief adding that the government is standing beside them in their time of trial.

He said that police personnel embraced martyrdom in the line of their duties. Usman Buzdar directed to take stern legal action against the lawbreakers, saying that the rule of law will be ensured at all costs. "Action should be taken under the law and justice to be done. No one will be allowed to take law into their own hands. The best medical care should be provided to the injured policemen. The government will leave no stone unturned to maintain law and order in the province," he concluded.
