QUETTA (92 News) – Four policemen were martyred and seven others were injured in a blast near a police van at Satellite Town in Quetta. According to the reports, the incident occurred near Al-Huda Mosque in Mini Market area of the provincial capital. The injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment. Police and security forces immediately rushed to the site of the explosion and placed security cordons there. The nature of the blast was being ascertained. However, many nearby vehicles have been destroyed due to the bomb blast near mosque. It was confirmed by the official that four policemen embraced martyrdom in the wake of the incident. He said 11 wounded persons were brought to the hospital, out of which two were in precarious condition. Balochistan CM condemns Quetta blast Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan has strongly condemned bomb attack near the Mosque. In a condemnation message, he instructed the doctors to provide all possible medical facilities to the injured people. The chief minister also instructed the Inspector General Balochistan Police to further beef up security measures.
Clearance operation concluded in Gwadar hotel, three terrorists killed
On May 12, the security forces concluded the clearance operation after a joint operation conducted by the armed forces at Pearl Continental hotel in port city of Gwadar. According to the Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR) on Sunday, five people including four hotel employees and a Pakistan Navy soldier embraced martyrdom during the operation.
“Two Pakistan Army captains, two soldiers of Pakistan Navy and two hotel workers sustained wounds in the terrorists’ attack,” the ISPR said. It added that three terrorists have been killed by military troops during the clearance operation and their dead bodies were taken into custody for identification. The ISPR further revealed that the terrorists had entered the hotel with a plan to make all guests inside PC as hostage but they were stopped by security guard at the central gate. The terrorists had attempted entry into the hotel aimed at targeting or taking hostage the guests present there but the security guard at entry challenged terrorists denying them entry into main hall and terrorists went to staircase leading to upper floors. The security guard Zahoor was martyred and later the terrorists opened heavy fire at the central gate of the hotel which killed three hotel employees. The deceased persons were identified as Farhad, Bilawal and Owais. “The teams of Quick Response forces (QRF) belong to Pakistan Army, Navy and police have arrived in at the hotel immediate and initiated operation after evacuating guests and hotel staff members to a safe location,” ISPR said.
