Franchises finalize players for third edition of PSL

LAHORE (92 News) – The drafting for third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been completed on Sunday. A total of 501 national and foreign players will be part of the six teams including Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans taking part in the third edition of PSL. Teams have already retained nine players each and will go into the PSL Player Draft 2017 have picked one Platinum, one Diamond, one Gold, two Silver and two Emerging players each in order to complete their squads of 16. In the platinum category, Lahore Qalanders have picked Australian batsman Chris Lynn, Islamabad United retained South African all-rounder JP Duminy, Karachi Kings successfully bid for South Africa’s Colin Ingram, Quetta Gladiators picked Australia’s Shane Watson, Multan Sultans drafted South Africa’s Imran Tahir and Peshawar Zalmi picked West Indies’s Dwayne Bravo. Shane Watson will lead Quetta Gladiator in the third edition of PSL. In the diamond category, Karachi Kings have picked Australia’s Mitchell Johnson, Lahore Qalanders drafted Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rehman, Quetta Gladiators selected West Indies’s Carlos Brathwaite, Islamabad United included New Zealand’s Luke Ronchi, Peshawar Zalmi picked Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal and Multan Sultans drafted West Indies’s Darren Bravo. In Gold Category, Karachi Kings have picked England’s Luke Wright, Islamabad United picked Faheem Ashraf, Quetta Gladiators drafted Rahat Ali, Peshawar Zalmi Hammad Azam, Multan Sultans picked Ahmed Shehzad and Lahore Qalandars drafted all-rounder Bilal Asif. Angelo Mathews, Mitchell McClenaghan, Gulraiz Sadar, Alex Hales, David Willey, Mohammad Hasan, Mohammad Hasnain, Jason Roy, Rashid Khan, Azam Khan, Faraz Ahmed Khan, Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis, Khalid Usman, Mohammad Arif, Hardus Viljoen, Umar Gul, Umar Sadique, Ross Whiteley, Colin Munro, Eoin Morgan and Saifullah Bangash have been picked in the Supplementary category. All franchises of the PSL drafted two cricketers each in Silver and Emerging categories.
