Freedom of media is vital for progress of country, says Ch Pervaiz Elahi

LAHORE (92 News) - Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi has said that the freedom of the media is vital for the progress of the country.

Talking to media persons on Tuesday, he said that restrictions on the media are not in favour of anyone.

Supporting the demands of the joint action committee, Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that the PECA Ordinance is a discriminatory treatment of the journalist community.

"The media is the fourth pillar of the state and we believe in its complete freedom. We always worked for the independence of the media as well as for the welfare of the workers. The independent press is mandatory for the security of Pakistan," he added.
