ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday terms the recent video and audio controversy as targeted campaign against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (rtd) Javed Iqbal. Speaking to the journalists on Friday, the special assistant said that the video controversy is baseless, fake, propaganda and fabricated. She alleged that the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) is habitual to propagate such fake videos for politically interests. Firdous Ashiq Awan also claimed that the people are making baseless propaganda after strong grip of the NAB around corrupt elements. “Opposition wants to make the national institutions as controversial,” she said. The special assistant vowed to foil these political campaigns against the government. Commenting on the video and audio controversies, she said that it is a targeted campaign against Javed Iqbal which has been launched to defame all the good the institute has done in the recent past. “The opposition is trying to drag the Prime Minister in NAB chairman controversy as well, which is testament to the fact that they are scared,” she further said. She expressed her dismay over how the anti-graft watchdog handled the controversy and said that the NAB is in need of a vigilant spokesman.
Some political pygmies busy hurling blame on PM
The special assistant maintained that some political pygmies were busy hurling blame and criticism on the Prime Minister. She advised the naysayers to hold themselves accountable before pointing fingers at the elected leader of the country. “Some people have taken backdoors to the political forefront and are now on the verge of a political death, criticizing Imran Khan is an attempt to keep themselves alive in the political arena,” Awan opined.
NAB terms news about Chairman as fake, baseless
Earlier today, the NAB has termed the video controversy about Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as fake, fabricated and baseless. The NAB spokesperson said that the objective of the news is to damage credibility of NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal. “Ignoring pressure and blackmailing, the NAB had arrested two members of a blackmailer group and approved a reference against them,” he declared. The NAB spokesperson said that 42 cases had been registered against the blackmailer group across the country. He said that the busted gang used to blackmail citizens by impersonating as NAB and FIA officers. “The ringleader, Farooq, is in Kot Lakhpat jail.” The NAB spokesperson said that the private channel had refuted its news and accepted it against the facts. “The channel administration has also apologized to the NAB chairman,” he said.
