Full-fledged lockdown from 12-3pm to limit Friday congregation today

KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh government announced a complete lockdown in Sindh scheduled from 12-3pm to limit Friday congregations. The decision to impose the Friday afternoon lockdown was made after consultation with Ulema. It is pertinent to mention here that all kinds of business activities would also remain suspended during the 12-3pm time period.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah met a delegation of religious figures to devise a strategy on coronavirus lockdown. The cleric’s delegation comprised Mufti Muneebur Rehman, Mufti Abdi Mubarak, Mufti Rafi Rehman, Mufti Abid Saeed, Abdul Waheed, Dr Abdul Bari, Dr Adeel, Dr Saeed and others. Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani and Nasir Shah represented the government delegation. The ulema delegation assured Sindh government of complete support during the lockdown. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced complete lockdown in the province tomorrow from 12 noon to 3PM. He said religious figures would call on Prime Minister Imran Khan tomorrow and devise SOPs for mosques. Earlier, the death toll increased to 124 after 17 more deaths were reported during the last 24 hours. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the number of total patients soared to 6,505 with 520 new cases across the country within 24 hours on Thursday. Punjab tops the patients tally with 3,217 cases followed by Sindh with 1,668. There are 145 patients in Islamabad, 912 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 280 in Balochistan, 46 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 237 in Gilgit-Baltistan. In total, 1,645 patients have recovered so far. Of them, the condition of 46 is stated to be critical. The number of tests conducted so far is 78,979 with 5,540 done during the last 24 hours.
