Funeral prayer of martyrs of Swat blast offered

PESHAWAR (92 News) – The funeral prayer of 11 martyrs who embraced martyrdom in Swat suicide blast was offered in Peshawar on Sunday. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Peshawar Corps Commander and other military and senior civil officials attended the Namaz-e-Janaza. Later, Chief of Army Staff also visited CMH Peshawar and meet injured of the incident. Earlier, a suicide blast in Swat had killed at least 11 soldiers, including one officer, and injured 13 others. The attack took place Saturday night in an area in the scenic Swat Valley where army officers conduct sporting activities, said an official statement. It gave no further details. The militant detonated his explosives targeting the soldiers as they were playing sports and exercising at an empty plot in Swat Valley, in the Kabal area.
