Funeral prayers for Naqeeb Al Ashraaf Syed Abdur Rahman Gillani held in Baghdad

BAGHDAD (92 News) - Funeral prayers for Naqeeb Al Ashraaf Syed Abdur Rahman Gillani were held in Baghdad on Monday.

A large number of devotees attended the funeral. Syed Abdur Rahman Zaheeruddin Bin Abdullah Moeed Bin Abdur Rahman was laid to rest in the feet of his mother in the shrine of Hazrat Ghausul Azam Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jillani. His grandfather Naqeeb Al Ashraaf Syed Abdur Rahman Gillani was the first prime minister of Iraq.

Syed Abdur Rahman Gillani was born in Iraq in 1936 (1354 AH). He is ranked among top scholars and religious figures of the world. He was highly educated and had deep knowledge of the Sufi thought.

He and Syed Ahmed Zafar Gillani were appointed as Naqeeb Al Ashraaf after the demise of Naqeeb Al Ashraaf Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani in 1997. He held several key posts in Iraq. He spread the teachings of Hazrat Ghausul Azam Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jillani across the world. He died in Jordan on June 25, 2022.
