GILGIT (92 News) – The funeral prayers for martyred Colonel Mujeebur Rehman were offered at the Army Helipad Ground at Astore in Gilgit. Civil and military officials and hundreds of locals attended the funeral prayers of Col Mujeebur Rehman who embraced martyrdom fighting against terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Tank. Gilgit-Baltistan Force Commander Maj Gen Ehsan Mehmood Khan led the funeral prayers. The Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister (CM), other provincial ministers and Pakistani Army officials attended the funeral ceremony of the martyred officer. It is pertinent to mention here that Col Mujeeb laid his life fighting bravely with enemies of the country in Tank. A day earlier, an officer of the Pakistan Army was martyred as security forces foiled a terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan). According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, the soldiers of armed force conducted a raid on a tip-off near Tank District. As soon as troops cordoned the area, terrorists opened fire. During operation two terrorists (high value targets) killed. In intense exchange of fire with the terrorists, Colonel Mujeebur Rehman – a resident of Bunji in District Astore of Gilgit Baltistan – embraced martyrdom. The ISPR said that Col Mujeebur Rehman is survived by a widow, three sons and a daughter. “During sanitization operation, a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from terrorist hideout,” the ISPR added. The Pakistan Army officers have cordoned off the entire area for further search operation.
