GDA to support PTI as NA to elect speaker, deputy speaker tomorrow

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Assembly Secretariat is now carrying out scrutiny of nomination papers filed for the elections of Speaker and Deputy Speaker National Assembly to be held tomorrow. As per reports, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has announced to fully support the candidates of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) for the elections of speaker, deputy speaker and the leader of the house. After the scrutiny, the final list of candidates will be issued by the National assembly secretariat. Asad Qaiser of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and Khurshid Shah, the joint candidate of opposition, has submitted their nomination papers for the slot of the speaker. For the seat of deputy speaker, Qasim Khan Suri of PTI and Asad Mehmoud, the candidate of opposition, have submitted their nomination papers. Meanwhile, GDA leaders Ghaus Baksh Mehr and Fehmida Mirza announced their support following talks with a PTI delegation led by its candidate for speaker Asad Qaiser in Islamabad on Tuesday. Speaking to the journalists, Fehmida Mirza appreciated the PTI for nominating candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan for the slots of the speaker and the deputy speaker. She said such steps will help address sense of deprivation of smaller provinces. She also said the party will collectively work for a strong federation. In his remarks on the occasion, Asad Qaiser thanked the GDA leadership for their support. Asad Qaiser said the people have given mandate to the PTI and it will work towards resolution of their problems.
