ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced that the general elections will be held in the last week of January 2024.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The meeting also reviewed the work related to the delimitation of constituencies.

The ECP spokesman said that the preliminary list of the delimitations will be released on September 27. "After removing the objections to the delimitations, the final list will be issued on November 30," he added.

Meanwhile, the ECP has directed the provincial governments to make preparations for the conduct of the general elections. In letters sent to the secretaries, the ECP said all administrative office-bearers are bound to assist the commission under the Article 220 of the constitution.

It asked the secretaries to direct the deputy commissioners to contact and cooperate with the provincial election commissions. It asked the provincial governments to provide administrative, logistic support and security to the district offices of the ECP.
