General elections will be held on February 8: ECP sources

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The general elections will be held on February 8 and the Senate resolution will not affect election schedule.

Sources in the ECP disclosed that no order except the SC order can affect the schedule for the general elections.

Talking to the media outside Parliament House, Information Minister Murtaza Solangi said that they were not allowed to present arguments during the elections delay resolution.

He said that there was no order from the caretaker prime minister and the cabinet regarding the delay in the elections. "Under the Article 218(3), the ECP is empowered to conduct the elections, give its date and change the date. We cannot interfere in the matters of any constitutional matters," he added.
