Ghusal-e-Kaaba ceremony held in Makkah

MAKKAH (92 News) – A ceremony to wash the Holy Kaaba held in Makkah on Monday. Inside walls of the Kaaba were washed using cloths dipped in Zamzam water mixed with rose water. After the cleaning, the floor and the walls were dried again with white cloth and tissues. The walls were then perfumed using large quantities of oud and rose perfume. The ceremony was attended by Imam-e-Kaaba, ambassadors of Islamic countries and other significant personalities. Paramilitary forces and other security officials were present around the Kaaba. Meanwhile, the Kiswa (the cloth covering the Kaaba) around the Black Stone corner and the edges of the Meezab (the golden spout from where rainwater from the roof of the Kaaba falls) was embellished with golden borders. Khana Kaaba is given ghusl twice in a year; once in the beginning of the Islamic year and second on 1st Shaban. The ceremonial washing of Kaaba is held following the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who washed it after entering the Kaaba at the time of the conquest of Makkah.
