Golf & Country Club case: SC seeks copy of filed reference from NAB

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has sought a copy of the filed reference in the Royal Palm Golf & Country Club case on Thursday. Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that the court will now take the case to logical conclusion. The NAB prosecutor general told the court that a reference had been filed over the lease issue and indictment is still pending. Moreover, the court also allowed Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed to present the arguments in the case and asked him to come to court on the next hearing with preparation. Later, the case was adjourned till next Thursday. Talking to the media after the hearing, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that the case has been pending with court for nine years. “The value of the leased land is over Rs200 billion,” he said. The minister said that he had paid the lawyer Rs 4.5 million, but he is demanding Rs 10 million. “The country’s asset has been destroyed,” he said. A NAB reference is also pending before an Islamabad accountability court against the illegal lease of the railway’s prime land to the Royal Palm Club management.
