Government brought betterment in economy with effective planning: Shaukat Tarin

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin has said that the government has brought betterment in economy of the country with effective planning.

Addressing a ceremony on Thursday, he said that there is not any clear road map policy of any institution for investment. “Our economy is progressing despite of challenges. Our economy was the fourth largest in 1960s. Problems occurred because of nationalization on vast level and then Afghan war damaged our economy,” he added.

He said that there were also direct impacts on national economy of second Afghan war. “The economy of Pakistan faced losses because of these continous challenges. Direction of economy could not be directed rightly because of sutructural problems and appropriate steps were not taken at the right time,” he maintained.

The minister said that ratio of taxes was too low in comparsion with GDP. “There was huge unstability in imports and exports. Growth ratio had also been unstable. We went to IMF to tackle these challenges,” he concluded.
