ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government has decided to increase the customs duty on over 400 items. The customs duty is likely to be imposed on items, including cold drinks, cigarettes, chocolate, branded milk, mobile phones, make-up, steel products and mineral water. The government has also decided to impose additional taxes on artificial jewelry. It has been recommended to increase the customs duty from 10 to 11 percent on imported chicken, frozen fish and meat. The customs duty will be increased on pine apples, peach, cherries, strawberries, tea, cotton yarn, fabrics and imported shoes. It has been recommended to increase the prices of suitcases, beauty boxes, briefcases, travelling bags, purses, hand bags and leather products. The prices of cooking ranges, video games and exercise machines are being increased by one per cent.
