Government decides to remove Nawaz Sharif from ECL: sources

LAHORE (92 News) – The federal government decided to remove name of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from Exit Control List (ECL), sources said on Friday.   According to the sources, the name of Nawaz Sharif may be removed from ECL in the next 48 hours, sources said. It added that the officials at the Interior Ministry are waiting for the formal orders to remove the PML-N quid’s name from the ECL The sources also claimed that Nawaz Sharif will be allowed to travel abroad within the next 48 hours. Officials also said that Nawaz Sharif’s name will not be removed till the orders come from the government. It was also reported that the former prime minister will travel to London next week. It is expected that the former premier will be accompanied by his brother Shehbaz Sharif. Earlier in the day, the Interior Ministry received former premier Nawaz Sharif’s application seeking removal of his names from the exit control list (ECL). The sources, in Interior Ministry,  said that the plea has been submitted by the Sharif family for Nawaz Sharif’s treatment abroad. The application adopted a stance that the former prime minister wanted to go abroad for treatment. The doctors at the Sharif Medical City Hospital have also recommended shifting Nawaz Sharif abroad for treatment. Earlier in the day, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Friday said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should go abroad for his treatment immediately. Talking informal conversations outside accountability court, Maryam Nawaz said that she cannot travel immediately due to her passport in the court. “Nawaz Sharif’s health is very critical,” she added. Earlier, Interior Minister Ijaz Shah had hinted towards allowing the former prime minister to seek treatment abroad, if that was the only option available. He said that if going abroad for treatment was the only option for Nawaz then the government would 'find a way'.
