ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government completely believes in the independence of journalism. Addressing a press conference on Friday, she said that all are equal before the law. “Some elements have made the law as their maid. The government has made the institutions independent and autonomous,” she maintained. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the constitutional institutions are working impartially. “Prime Minister Imran Khan has been striving that law should be equal for all across the country,” she added. She said that the government is striving to remove each hurdle in the journalist community. “Work is going on the Journalist Protection Bill,” she added. The special assistant said that the government is standing by the law and the constitution. “However, we expect that NAB will apply the law equally. The NAB should not give the stench of revenge. It should not happen that the powerful is scot free, but the weak is nabbed,” she declared.
