Governor-ECP meeting ends inconclusively, no date finalized for PA elections

LAHORE (92 News) - A meeting between Punjab Governor Baleeghur Rehman and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ended inconclusively as both sides failed to reach a consensus to finalize a date for the elections in the Punjab Assembly.

The meeting decided to move the Lahore High Court for explanation of the verdict. During the meeting, ECP Secretary Umar Hameed said that no decision was made during. Punjab Governor Baleeghur Rehman said that he would use his constitutional right.

On the other hand, PTI chairman Imran Khan held a consultative meeting after the governor's meeting that discussed all constitutional and legal aspects. The meeting also discussed the constitutional role of President Dr Arif Alvi.

Imran Khan informed the meeting about his telephonic conversation with President Arif Alvi. He said that the Punjab governor and the ECP are violating the constitution.
