Govt abolishes withholding tax from entire construction sector: Firdous

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the government has abolished withholding tax from the entire construction sector, except cement and steel industry. In a series of tweets, the special assistant said that 90 per cent tax concession is being given to the construction sector. She also said that those, who invest in the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme, will have to pay only 10 per cent tax. She said development and progress of the construction sector will construe in the development of labourers and workers. Firdous Ashiq Awan said “The stimulus of the construction sector will give new life to other industries which will benefit skilled and unskilled workers. This package will prove to be a milestone in creating homeland, people's well-being and employment opportunities,” the special assistant maintained. “Giving a concession package and industry status to the construction sector will boost other industries,” she said. “The prime minister’s move is a message of hope and development. The working class capitalist community will benefit from this,” she added.
