ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that the government will launch a crackdown against those fomenting hatred on the social media from next week. Addressing the press conference on Thursday, he said that the freedom of expression is not unlimited. “We will not give anyone power to foment hatred. Some people through fake accounts are resorting to hate speeches and issuing edicts,” he said. Fawad Ch said that actions would be taken on the violation of the media laws. “The supremacy of the law will be ensured,” he said. The minister said that there is no concept of extremism in Islam. “The vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia also reflects an end to extremism and terrorism,” he maintained. He said that arrests had been made on misuse of the social media. Fawad Ch was of the view that problems are born by imposing his opinion on others. “The nation has rendered innumerable sacrifices. Extremism has increased after Narendra Modi came into the power,” he added. He announced that they are also establishing Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority which will provide a one-window facility to all the media outlets and ensure enforcement of related regulations. Fawad Chaudhry said that the Pakistani nation has almost overcome the menace of terrorism. “This was made possible by the resilience of the nation,” he added.
