Govt assigns task of reconciliation with MQM to Ch Pervaiz Elahi

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The government has assigned Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi the task of reconciliation with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Sources said that the MQM had demanded the slot of Sindh governor as well as the Ministry for Maritime Affairs.

They said that the PTI had decided to give one more ministry to the MQM. "Sindh Governor Imran Ismail could resign if need be.

On the other hand, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail clarified that no bargain was going on with the MQM. "The MQM has neither made such demand nor we have discussed such thing with the MQM. Talks to reopen the MQM offices are underway," he added.

He said that the meeting with the MQM had been meaningful, hoping that the MQM would support the government. "We will continue to give a surprise to the opposition daily and as a result, the opposition will not be able to conduct voting on the no-confidence motion," he added.
