Govt can't do long-term work as it has only one year and three months: PM Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government cannot do long-term projects as it has only one year and three months.

Addressing the Pre-Budget Business Conference on Tuesday, he said that political stability is impossible in the country until economic stability. "After the 18th Amendment, the Federation has not ample resources," he declared.

Shehbaz Sharif invited all stakeholders to sign a charter of economy which will not be changed.

He said that the government will have to reduce non-development expenditures. "The imposition of tax on non-productive assets. We are importing three million tons of wheat. We will spend money on the masses by imposing taxes on the real estate sector," he maintained.

Shehbaz Sharif announces the establishment of Merit and incentive-based transparent Industrial Zones across the country. "It was not easy for the allies government to make tough decisions. We will have to promote export-based industries. The agriculture sector can change the destiny of the country. Agri produce can be increased through the use of modern technology," he added.

He said that the government will provide free land to industrialists.
