Govt decides to amend NAB powers against politicians and bureaucracy

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The government has decided to amend the powers of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against politicians and bureaucracy.

According to a copy of the proposed bill for amending the NAB laws, the disqualification sentence in the corruption cases will be five years instead of 10 years. A convict in a corruption case will be able to contest the election after five years.

As many as 31 amendments have been included in the proposed bill. The NAB power to arrest the accused has also been abolished and he will be arrested after approval from court.

The NAB will be responsible for the proof otherwise the inquiry will not be started. The NAB will not be able to take action on the decisions of the cabinet committees. Moreover, it will be bound to complete the inquiry of the corruption case in six months.

The case against politicians and bureaucracy will not be formed without proving financial benefit against politicians and bureaucracy.
