Govt decides to close educational institutions till May 31

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The federal government has decided to close educational institutions across the country till May 31. In a daily briefing on Thursday, Federal Minister for Planning and Reform Asad Umer said that all political parties are jointly working. “We will look into the problems being faced by the transportation sector on Friday. There is no shortage of flour in the country,” he said. The minister said that the prime minister is going to make two big announcements pertaining to volunteers and financial aid in a couple of days. “We are functioning as per the national strategy to deal with coronavirus. The world is striving to deal with coronavirus,” he said. He warned the profiteers of stern action. Special Assistant to PM on Health Dr Zafar Mirza said that essential medical supplies to the country are in pipelines and situation will remarkably improve regarding their availability by April 5. He said that 19,760 beds are available in ICUs across the country. NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal said that the number of beds in Quarantine Centres has risen to 162,000 across the country. “The number of doctors and staff working in ICUs is 30,000. The number of ventilators will increase to 2,000 by the end of April,” he said. Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noorul Haq Qadri said that the Friday prayers will be restricted. “However, mosques will remain open,” he announced. He said that people aged 50 should not visit mosques. “Ulema have empowered the government to make decisions,” he added.
