Govt decides to close schools in areas with positivity ratio of more than 5pc

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Due to the rapidly increasing the cases of COVID-19 across the country, the federal government has decided to close the schools in areas with positivity ratio of more than five percent.

This was announced by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) head Asad Umar after the NCOC meeting while briefing to the journalists.

He said that schools will remain closed in areas with positivity ratio of more than five percent while outdoor dining has also been banned till Eid after indoor dining, while only take way is allowed.

He said offices will close at 02:00pm and asked people to complete their Eid preparations without waiting for last days to avoid large gatherings.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the Pak Army will assist in implementing the coronavirus SOPs.

Addressing the National Coordination Committee on Friday, he said that the Pak Army and the Rangers will assist the police in implementing the SOPs.

He appealed to the masses to wear masks and implement the coronavirus SOPs strictly. "India-like situation could emerge in Pakistan if the precautionary measures not adopted," he warned.

He said that in case the situation gets worsened, the government will have to impose the lockdown and close down the cities. "Poor people are affected by the lockdown," he declared.
