ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A government delegation led by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal called on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and sought support for Senate Chiarman Sadiq Sanjrani. Talking to the media after the meeting on Wednesday, Jam Kamal said that they had come to seek help for defending the dignity and credibility of the Senate. “We do not want the consequences of the steps taken by the opposition produce negative results,” he said. He said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has vast experience of resolving the problems. “I hope he will play a positive role,” he added. Jam Kamal said that Sadiq Sanjrani belongs to his party and had come to seek support for him. “The government will also take positive steps if the opposition takes the positive steps,” he maintained. Leader of the House in the Senate Shibli Faraz was also accompanying the government delegation. Speaking on the occasion, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that it was impossible to withdraw the no-confidence motion against the Senate chairman. “The joint opposition had decided to de-seat the Senate chairman. Meanwhile, the government alliance has contacted the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and sought time for a meeting with party chairman Bilawal Bhutto. On the other hand, PPP Senator Sherry Rehman has termed the government efforts to save the Senate chairman as horse trading. “The government is damaging dignity of the Senate,” she said. She said that the success of the no-confidence motion is evident as the government does not have the required numbers. Opposition parties had earlier this month submitted a no-confidence motion against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani with a requisition to summon a session to put a motion of no-confidence to vote. In a tit-for-tat move, government senators submitted a no-confidence resolution against Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla. On Tuesday, Sadiq Sanjrani had summoned a session for the opposition to debate on the resolution but Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq refused to discuss the resolution, saying that it was against the rules to discuss a no-confidence motion in a requisitioned session. The session was then prorogued.
