KARACHI (92 News) – A government delegation on Saturday called on MQM leaders at Bahadurabad and assured them of meeting their demands. The delegation led by Jahangir Tareen was comprised of Pervaiz Khattak and Asad Umar. On their arrival, MQM leaders Aminul Haq and Muhammad Hussain received them. Jahangir Tareen offered Khalid Maqbool to rejoin the cabinet. In reply, Khalid Maqbool said that joining the cabinet is not a big issue. “Our problems are important. We have always served the country and will continue to serve the country. There is no need for a ministry,” he said. During the meeting, both sides agreed to hold a meeting in Islamabad. Talking to the media after the meeting, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak said that the MQM had left the cabinet, not the government. “The MQM is an ally of the government and will remain the ally,” he said. He said that stern decisions will have to be made to set aright the matters. MQM convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that there was a good development in today’s meeting. “We will continue to support the government as per promise. Roadmap for our demands has been decided,” he said. Jahangir Tareen said that the federal government had given a huge quantity of wheat two months ago. “We will make the import of wheat duty-free,” he said.
