Govt demanded to make Abbottabad Commission’s report public

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Justice (r) Javed Iqbal has on Monday demanded the government to public the Commission’s report on Abbottabad raid by the US special operations forces to kill al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on 2 May 2011. The Abbottabad Commission led by Justice Javaid Iqbal had submitted a report to the Prime Minister on January, 4 2013. The report investigates the circumstances surrounding the death of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad. Upon submission, the report was immediately classified by the Prime Minister and its findings were not made public. Justice (r) Javed Iqbal said in the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Interior that the Abbottabad Commission worked six months, adding that the circumstances would have been different if the recommendations of the commission were implemented. He said that there wouldn’t have been need of new institutions if the recommendations of the commission were implemented. The Abbottabad commission chairman said that the situation regarding missing persons in Sindh is very bad, adding that once the number of missing persons increased from 136 to 3692 in the country.
