Court verdict against me was contrary to facts, says Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An important meeting of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was held in Punjab House with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in chair on Tuesday. Federal ministers including Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Minister for Privatisation Daniyal Aziz, Senator Dr Asif Kirmani, former federal minister Pervaiz Rasheed, Parliamentary Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) MNA Maiza Hameed and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Musadik Malik attended the meeting. During the meeting, matters pertaining to current political situation, government’s performance, Law Minister Zahid Hamid’s resignation and Faizabad sit-in came under discussion. Sources said that Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal briefed the meeting about Islamabad sit-in and dialogue process. Nawaz Sharif expressed dissatisfaction on the performance of the interior minister and said that the sit-in was not handled properly. He said that the court verdict against him was in contrary to facts. “The people did not accept the court verdict,” he said. Nawaz Sharif said that it does not happen in any civilized country of the world. “Whatever happening in the country for the last 70 years is regrettable,” he said. The party leaders said that the resignation of Law Minister Zahid Hamid after 22 days has damaged the reputation of the party and weakened the government. The meeting also expressed dissatisfaction on the role of the parliamentary parties. On the other hand, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq and Pakhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai separately met former PM Nawaz Sharif. The Pakhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party chief assured the former PM of his full support.
