Govt increases power tariff by Rs2.51 per unit
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the price of electricity Rs2.51 per unit for one month under the head of the fuel price adjustment.
The increase will not be applicable to the Lifeline and K-Electric consumers. According to the NEPRA, the detailed judgment and the notification will be issued later on.
According to a report, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested to increase the price of electricity by Rs2.66 per unit. The NEPRA approved the increase after a hearing.
NEPRA Vice-Chairman Rafique Sheikh said that the power tariffs increase with the increase in the fuel prices. "If cheap electricity is added to the system, the expensive electricity will come to an end," he added.
