Govt increases prices of 70,000 medicines by 2.86pc

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The federal government has increased the prices of 70,000 medicines by 2.86 percent. According to a notification issued by the federal government, the medicines of hepatitis, heart, sugar, TB, cancer, asthma, allergy and kidney ailments have been increased by 1.43 percent. Antibiotic tablets, capsules, injections and skin diseases have been increased by 1.43 percent. Likewise non-scheduled multi-vitamins, painkillers and epilepsy medicines have been increased by two percent. According to the Drug Pricing Policy, the prices of medicines have been increased by half of the inflation. The drug manufacturing medicines will have to inform the Drug Regulatory Authority 15 days before increasing the prices. However, the increase will not be applicable to drug manufacturing companies who got a stay order after increasing the prices of medicines.
