ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government has offered the slot of Senate deputy chairmanship to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F).

Talking to the media on Tuesday, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak offered Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri to become the Senate deputy chairman.

On the other hand, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri rejected the government offer and said that the offer had no status. "We are bound to follow the decision of the PDM which is fully united," he said.

He said that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had not informed him regarding his nomination as Senate deputy chairmanship.

Abddul Ghafoor Haideri said that the minister was using delaying tactics to save its sinking boat.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has given the task of electing the Senate chairman and deputy chairman to Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak.

Sources said that the government has decided to take the allies into confidence. A meeting of party leaders was held under Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The meeting decided to give the seat of the Senate deputy chairman to allies.
