Govt prepares new summary draft to remove SC objections to COAS extension

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The federal government has prepared a new summary draft to remove the objections raised by the Supreme Court in the extension of Chief of Army Staff(COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa's tenure on Wednesday. An emergency meeting of the PTI  central leadership was held at the PM House, with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair. Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, senior federal ministers and PTI leaders attended the meeting. During the meeting, the legal team briefied the participants about the Supreme Court objections, the extension in the service tenure of COAS, a summary for appointment of COAS and mistakes in the notification. Sources said the meeting had decided to get approval of the draft from the cabinet through the circulation of the summary. During the consultative  meeting, the prime minister expressed his anger at the mistakes made in the preparation of the summary regarding extension in the service tenure of Chief of Army Staff. He also  questioned that why the court  objections were ignored in the summary. Sources said that following the court verdict, action is likely to be taken against those who had  prepared the summary. Meanwhile, the PM has summoned a Parliamentary Party meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday (tomorrow) at Parliament House.
