Govt should reduce its expenditures instead of imposing tax after tax: PML-N senator

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - PML-N Senator Sadia Abbasi has said that the government should reduce its expenditures instead of imposing tax after tax.

Expressing her views in the Upper House on Friday, she said that no finance minister had ever presented a solid plan for the betterment of country’s economy.

Senator Sarmad Ali said that hurdles are being created for the traditional media. “A 10 percent duty on the news print should be abolished. The print media is struggling for its survival. We are passing through precarious conditions. Our resources are limited, but problems are unlimited,” he maintained.

Senator Mohsin Aziz said that the government had destroyed the exports industry. “The government imposed the tax on the poor instead of imposing it on the elite,” he added.

PTI Senator Zarqa Suharwardi said that the budget was pro-elite rather than pro-people. She demanded that the government should reduce its expenditures.
