Govt tables military courts extension bill in NA today

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government will today (Monday) present bill to extend tenure of Military Courts for two years in the National Assembly as the the Senate and National Assembly will resume sessions at Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday after a two-day break.

Political consensus to this effect was evolved after intensive consultations among the political parties after the expiry of military courts' tenure in January this year.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that amendments to the Constitutional Amendment Bill and Army Act amendment Bill will be presented in the National Assembly following a consensus in the Parliamentary leaders meeting.

He said that voting on military courts related bills would be held in the National Assembly on Tuesday (March 21).

After passage from the National Assembly, the bill will be tabled in Senate.

The Senate will resume its session at 3:00pm while National Assembly at 4:00pm.

Both the houses will discuss important national issues besides carrying out legislative business.
