Govt to assist families who earn less than Rs 25,000 for buying ration: PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said that the government will assist families who earn less than 25,000 rupees for buying ration on Tuesday. Chairing a meeting on the provision of relief to low-income groups, he also said that the government is committed to provide relief to low-income segments of the society. The prime minister said the government would assist the families having less than 25,000 rupees monthly income in purchase of ration. He also his finance and economic team to allocate amount for ration in the upcoming budget. About Shelter Homes and Ehsaas Kitchen Programme of the government, the prime minister said this programme is practical manifestation of government’s commitment to assist and take care of the down-trodden segments of the society. PM Khan appreciated partnership of private sector and well-off people with the government in this noble cause. Earlier, PM Imran Khan has said that feeling is the only difference between the society of humans and animals.  Addressing the launching ceremony of Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme on Monday, he said that the facility like Sehat Card had not been given even in the richest countries. “Allah Almighty Has bestowed Pakistan with innumerable natural resources,” he said. The prime minister also announced to provide free legal aid to citizens. “Granting scholarships on merit to deserving undergraduate students is another step towards the realization of goal of a welfare state based on the pattern of state of Madina. The program complements the government’s roadmap to transform Pakistan on the model of state of Madina.” Appreciating the Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Program, he said that the state would increase the number of scholarships as well as the funds of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) when financial situation improves. The prime minister expressed hope that the recipients of this scholarship will study with dedication to bring laurels to the country in various fields. He congratulated Dr Sania Nishtar for launching this program and other schemes under the umbrella of Ehsaas. Imran Khan also gave the scholarship award letters to selected students. Earlier, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Welfare Dr Sania Nishtar said that the scholarships would be awarded on merit to help the deserving students get education. She said that 50,000 scholarships would be given each year to the deserving students of 119 public sector universities across the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. A total of 200,000 would benefit from this program. Sania Nishtar said that 50 per cent quota had been fixed in the undergraduate scholarship programme for the women whilst two per cent for the disabled persons. She said that the scholarship covers the tuition fee and Rs4,000 per month as a stipend. “So far as 132,000 students have applied for the scholarship,” he added.
