Govt to send a reference for reopening 35-year-old fraud case against Mohsin Baig

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government has decided to send a reference for reopening the 35-year-old reference against journalist Mohsin Baig.

In 1987, the Aabpara police had registered a case against Mohsin Baig under sections fraud and attempt to murder.

According to the FIR, Mohsin Baig had printed fake defence saving certificates and the post office staff called the police when he went to cash the certificates. The accused had opened fire on the police when they tried to arrest him.

As a result, ASI Safeer Ali Shah was injured. Later, the accused got a visa on the letter of a journalist and fled to America. In 2020, he tried to get his name removed from the case.

The government will also investigate how the case against him was quashed.
