Govt tried to curb NAB powers through new ordinance: Sirajul Haq
December 29, 2019
LAHORE (92 News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday said that the government has tried to curb the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) powers through new amendment ordinance. Speaking to the journalists, the JI chief said that when the anti-graft watchdog body discussed the BRT then the incumbent government curbed the powers of the body through new ordinance. He also demanded for restructuring of the NAB through consultations with the opposition. Sirajul Haq maintained that the opposition wants decision making in the parliament not through the ordinances. “The democracy will strengthen if all institutions work within their constitutional limits,” he added. The JI chief said that the opposition has time and again said that they don’t want the ordinance and the decisions should be made in the Senate and National Assembly. He said that the government raised a slogan on accountability and change but today, the accountability has become a joke.
Govt has silently started giving NRO
Sirajul Haq said that the government silently started to grant the NRO making the accountability process a farce. He said that the government has made a new record of inflation, adding that the government is weak due to the artificial majority and mandate. He said that they have no personal agenda and they do not have any kind of “Abu Bachao Program. “We wanted to save the system and for this we will continue our struggle,” he mentioned. Commenting on the situation in Kashmir, he said the people of the region have offered immense sacrifices and facing protracted siege in the occupied territory. “The government has even failed to convene a session of the OIC over the situation in Kashmir,” he further said.
