Govt universities barred from granting affiliation to new private law colleges

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Saturday barred all government universities in the country from granting affiliation to new private law colleges and ordered the vice chancellors (VCs) to conduct inspections of the colleges first. A two-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the suo motu notice regarding the private law colleges at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry in Lahore. During the hearing, the court restrained all the government sector universities in the country from granting affiliation to new private law colleges. The court also directed Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed for early appointment of the voice chancellors of different government universities in the province. The CJP also directed all the voice chancellors of public sector universities to ensure high quality law education in their respective universities.
