ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has said that the government will give a subsidy on food items to the lower class and about 30-40 percent people will get the subsidy in cash.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he said that the government will stock daily-use items. "We are eradicating the role of the middle man. The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has been asked to take action against mafias. Long-term projects are being discussed for stability in prices," he added.

The minister said that inflation had increased due to the IMF program. "After the IMF loan, the Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc with the economy. Inflation has increased across the world due to Covid-19 and there is also a shortage of containers," he added.

He said that the opposition's criticism is unjustified. "A subsidy of Rs 50 will be given on ghee under the Ehsas Programme."

Shaukat Tarin also announced to fix the sugar price at Rs 90 per kg. "The price control committees will be established again," he announced.
