Grave situation in held Kashmir central issue of focus at HRC: FO

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Foreign Office (FO) said on Friday that grave situation of humanitarian crisis in in the Indian-held Jammu Kashmir has become the central issue of focus at the Human Rights Council. Responding to a media query, FO spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said that Pakistan has initiated several measures to keep a sustained focus on the situation in Occupied Kashmir. “Pakistan will continue to take every possible step to end Kashmiris’ suffering,” he added. The FO spokesperson also said that Pakistan will exercise all options available to ensure that the Human Rights Council (HRC) actions meaningfully impact the ground situation in held Kashmir to end the suffering of thirteen million Kashmiris. “Human rights situation in the IOJ&K has become the central issue of focus at the Human Rights Council,” spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal tweeted. He said Pakistan has initiated “a number of processes to keep a sustained focus on IOJ&K.” On the other hand, curfew and lockdown continued at 47th consecutive day on Friday (today) in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) from August 5 when Narendra Modi government announced scraping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Residents continue to suffer immensely as the Kashmir valley continues to remain under strict curfew and military lockdown for the 47th consecutive day. The heavy deployment of Indian troops has created an atmosphere of fear, forcing the people to remain indoors. The continued blockade of the valley has aggravated the situation to an alarming proportion. The residents confined to their homes are facing difficulties in meeting their daily needs. The shortage of essential commodities like milk, baby food and life-saving medicines is adding to the miseries of the people and the valley represents a humanitarian crisis.
