Gwadar attack a attempt to damage economy, sabotage prosperity: PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Condemning the terrorist attack on a hotel in Gwadar, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said that such attempts in Balochistan are an effort to sabotage our economic projects and prosperity. In a statement, the prime minister has categorically stated that Pakistani nation and its security forces shall defeat the terrorists and the government will not allow these agendas to succeed. PM Khan appreciated the initial response by security guard and security forces in foiling greater loss to human lives. He also paid rich tributes to martyred and injured security personnel during the operation. The prime minister said such attempts especially in Balochistan are an effort to sabotage our economic projects and prosperity.
Nation is united against terrorism to defeat it
Condemning the terrorist attack in Gwadar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the nation is united against terrorism to defeat it. In a message, Dr Firdous Ashiq said said that the enemies of Pakistan’s peace and progress will never succeed in their nefarious designs. “Our martyrs are our pride and the whole nation pays tribute to them,” she said.
Security guard martyred as gunmen attack hotel in Gwadar
On Saturday, a security guard was martyred in firing of three terrorists who attempted forced entry into the five star Pearl Continental (PC) Hotel in the southwestern port city of Gwadar. “Three terrorists attempted forced entry in PC Gwadar. Guard at entry challenged them. Terrorists opened fire on PC security guard who embraced Shahadat (martyrdom),” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The ISPR confirmed that the security forces have cordoned off the area and guests have been safely evacuated. “Terrorists encircled by security forces are in a staircase leading to top floor and cleared the hotel during operation,” it said. According to the reports, the gunshots were heard as terrorists entered in private hotel. Heavy contingents of police and security forces soon reached the area and started an operation. Balochistan information Minister Zahoor Balidi said all persons inside the hotel have been safely evacuated. The minister said firing exchange between terrorists and security forces is under way. Police and FC personnel have also reached the scene and surrounded the hotel. Security around the hotel has been further tightened. It is pertinent to mention here that the foreign delegations often stay at the hotel when visiting for work. Gwadar is one of the main centre’s of activity under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
