Gwadar projects will put Balochistan on new path of development: PM

GWADAR (92 News) - Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has inaugurated various development projects of Gwadar city, saying that development of Balochistan is the top priority of the government.

Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of Gwadar's Phase-II projects, the prime minister said that the Gwadar project will put Balochistan on a new path of development. He also said that a 22-acre zone of Gwadar has been opened today and investors have been invited. "Many areas in Pakistan lag far behind, including Balochistan," he added.

Imran Khan said that if the chief minister of Balochistan had spoken in Urdu, 90 per cent of our Pakistanis would have understood. "That is why I am speaking in Urdu so that 90 per cent of our Pakistanis can understand the speech," he maintianed.

"Pakistan is going to be a great country and Gwadar projects will put Balochistan on a new path of development. Pakistan was one of the fastest growing countries in the 60's, then we made mistakes and fell behind. Gwadar is going to be a point that will benefit Balochistan and the whole of Pakistan," the premier explained.

PM Khan said that development work in Gwadar had been planned for a long time but the work was not going on. He asked the big companies to invest here and the government would provide full support to domestic and foreign investors.

"I thank the Chinese ambassador for his fantastic speech. China has implemented water and power projects in Gwadar. We are now going for a one-window operation. In the past, no attention was paid to the exports. We want that big companies to invest here and increase exports."

Imran Khan mentioned that the federal government and the Balochistan government have a very good coordination, they want to further improve this coordination. When the investors will get benefit then the investors come like bees on honey.

"Friendship with China is of great benefit to us, China is currently the fastest growing economy in the world, we can benefit a lot from China, to provide technical training to the people of Gwadar. There is a need for training staff in Gwadar as the industry grows, for which a training college is being set up in Gwadar. It is also becoming a world class hospital."

The prime minister said that he will regularly monitor all the projects announced today. "Prime Minister House will directly monitor the most important sector of CPEC."

He said that no country can develop in the true sense of the word unless any of its areas are left behind. He gave a development fund of Rs730 billion to Balochistan which is the highest in history. "We are also talking to the Taliban about a political solution to Afghanistan," he added.
